Sliding this all the way to the right should result in a finer detailed model, but a larger file size. Just for clarification, the “Geometry Accuracy” slider is associated with the graphical detail of your model. The Revit to Lumion Bridge exporter window will pop up. Once you have the plugin installed, open up your Revit software and open up a 3D View of a model that you want to bring into Lumion. The best part about this is that it keeps your materials intact, which saves you the headache of assigning all the materials in 3DS Max or redoing everything in Lumion once it’s been imported. But the best workflow that I found was to use Lumion’s “Revit to Lumion Bridge” plugin. So, one possibility is to bring your exported FBX file into 3DS Max and make sure all the material assignments are proper. For whatever reason, Autodesk’s material libraries contain some information that other software has difficulty interpreting. This is a known issue with software such as Unity 3D. I am not sure why this is, but I think it has to do with the Autodesk Material libraries and their compatibility with other software. However, I had to recently do a demonstration of Lumion 4.0 and I was running into some oddities when I tried exporting my Revit model as an FBX and bringing it into Lumion. As with any program, there are many ways you can accomplish something. This article is going to detail what I think is the best workflow of bringing your Revit model into Lumion.

We have written several articles about Lumion here on our blog. Lumion 6.5 and newer are not affected by this cap and can use more than 4 GB memory on Windows 7, 8 and 10.Lumion is a powerful rendering program for Architectural Visualization. On Windows 7, graphics card memory and system memory are not limited by the 4 GB cap when running older DirectX 9 applications such as Lumion 1.0-6.3.

The reason is that Windows 8 and 10 do not allow older DirectX 9 applications (such as Lumion 6.3 and older) to use more than 4 GB graphics card memory for a given application - and no system memory either. If you're using Lumion 6.3 or older and need more than 4 GB of memory for your Projects, we recommend that you run Lumion on Windows 7 (64-bit with at least SP1).

To see which version of Windows 10 or Windows 11 you currently have installed, c lick on the Windows button and select Settings -> System -> About, to see the version number. We recommend updating your Windows 10 to version 2004 or newer as it includes the Windows feature "Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling" which improves the performance of Lumion in some Projects. Note that Lumion 11 or Lumion 12 requires at least Windows 10 version 1809 in order to run. Lumion 6.5 and newer requires Windows 10 or Windows 11.
